Obituary

Celebrating the LIfe of Wally Braaten

Wallace Edgar (Wally) Braaten of Margo, passed away peacefully on March 22nd, 2024 in Saskatoon, SK, at the age of 84 surrounded by his family at Royal University Hospital, in Saskatoon, SK.

Wally was born in Kenora Ontario on January 7, 1940. He attend early years Lakeside School in Kenora, he later attended school at Bear Lake School North of Kuroki Sk.  In 1951, Wally came to live with Harvey and Doris Braaten on the farm south of Margo, SK, where he attended Olivet School.  Wally then attended grade nine in Winnipeg, Manitoba, before moving back to Margo to live with Harvey and Doris.  Wally loved life on the farm and enjoyed working with cattle and horses, as he was adept at training horses.  He enjoyed time making hay on the flats and spending time in the fields. Wally’s vacation included going to local auctions and rodeos.  He especially enjoyed spending time outdoors and enjoyed hunting in the fall.

In 2012 he retired from farming and moved off the farm to a house in Margo, where he spent his time enjoying coffee with his neighbors.

He will be lovingly remembered by his: sister Marlene (Walter) Hertz, close cousin Randolph (Randy)(Lynn) Braaten, and their children Erik (Amanda), Ian (Christie), sister-in-law Billy (Babe) Braaten as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by: his dad Ralph Braaten, his mother Gladys (Givings) and close Uncle and Aunt Harvey and Doris Braaten, his brother David (Dave) Braaten and half-brother Daaryl Braaten.
